Course Overview:

IFS Academy is Dassault Systemes Authorised Educational Partner in India conducting certified CATIA Electrical Wiring Harness Design Online Training. This course will introduce you to the fundamental concepts of CATIA V5. You will learn how to design parts and assemblies and create simple drawings. Once you are familiar with the fundamentals, you will be introduced to the Electrical Library products. You will learn how to create the Electrical Harness for an automotive assembly. You will also learn how to map the functional specifications of the Harness system to the digital mock-up created in CATIA V5 and create the harness documentation. We will teach you how to use the Electrical 3D Design Part and Assembly workbenches with a focus on the Consumer Goods industry. You will learn how to create electrical assemblies, route multi-branches, route wires, and create drawings of the electrical harness assemblies. This course will teach you how to create an Electrical Components Catalog. You will learn how to design harnesses, create bundle segments, and connect them to electrical components. You will also learn how to manage the branch points, protections, and links, and how to perform knowledge checks. This course will teach you how to use the Electrical Wire Routing workbench to route signals and create wires using a harness and a functional definition. You will also learn how to integrate external tools with CATIA’s electrical products. This course will also teach you how to use the Electrical Harness Flattening workbench to extract, flatten, and synchronize an electrical/geometrical harness. You will learn how to manipulate the flattened harness and how to define and generate a harness flattening report. You will also learn how to use text templates to create an annotated and dimensioned 2D drawing of a 3D harness. Automotive Wiring Harness/ Cabling design has been a prime importance in the functional performance of a vehicle. CATIA V5 Electrical Products

A set of Electrical products to address 2D and 3D requirements…CATIA V5 Electrical products provide the tools needed to manage the electrical behavior of components and their integration into the 3D digital mock-up. A bi-directional interface between CATIA Version 5 and electrical CAD systems provides mechanical parts and assemblies with electrical behavior in order to define electrical devices and also manage the definition of electrical wires within the digital mock-up. A relationship can be set between 2D logical design and 3D digital mock-up to ensure consistency of both schematic and physical representation.

Assignments:

Relevant models will be given to the students which can be created with the help of the commands or features which are taught during the course. These model based assignments will be carried out once or twice in a week based on the complexity of the commands or features.

Case studies:

Practical industrial examples will be considered as case studies where students will not only study the modeling technique involved to create a complex industrial model but also students will study the design considerations and methodologies involved in the creation of the model. These case studies will be taught to students in detail and they will create the model under the guidance of the faculty.

Projects and Test:

Once students are proficient in using all the commands/features and once they have undergone through the practical case studies, individual projects will be assigned to them in groups where they will design and build a model based on Engineering knowledge as well as Electrical Design philosophies of CATIA V5. This project and an objective questions test will be the benchmarks to judge the performance of student.
